Rutgers adds Nick Quartaro to staff

Rutgers officially announced the hire today of Nick Quartaro as its new director of player development. Quartaro brings in over 30 years of coaching experience and is coming off a stint as the assistant head coach/tight ends coach at FBS North Texas.

“With over 30 years in college football, Nick will be a great resource to the players in our program,” head coach Chris Ash said in a statement. “He knows the demands of being a college athlete and what it takes for them to be successful during their college careers and long after their playing days are over."

Quartaro was at North Texas for the past five seasons and prior to that, he had a seven-year stint at Iowa State.

Quartaro's coaching stops also landed him at Kansas where he was the Jayhawk offensive coordinator from 2002-06. He was part of a Kansas staff that led the Jayhawks to a 2006 Fort Worth Bowl victory over Houston in a game where his offense mounted 538 total yards.

Quartaro also served as an assistant coach at Kansas State and held head coaching jobs at Fordham and Drake.
